Regional Transmillennial Conference
Theme: What Is Sin Really?
Conference
Schedule
The Sjolander Road Fellowship announces the third annual Texas Regional
Transmillennial Conference for January 23-25, 2009. The conference site
will be 4464 Sjolander Road, Baytown, Texas (approximately 30 miles east
of Houston, exit 795 off Interstate 10).
Transmillennial is
descriptive of an alternative view of the millennium as related in the
Bible. Transmillennialism is a unique understanding of biblical prophecy
which both honors the biblical account and the integrity of God. It recognizes
a long past fulfillment of all prophecies, including those associated
with the so called Return of Christ and the establishment of His millennial
reign. In this sense then transmillennial means beyond or transcending
the anticipated millennial period. Significantly, this radically different
viewpoint provides a much grander picture of God and His work in Christ
than the more prevalent futurist accounts of the millennium (typically
premillennialism, postmillennialism, and amillennialism).
In this particular
conference we will focus on the subject of sin and the resultant redemptive
plan of God which culminates in the message and sacrifice of Christ. Speakers
will explore a deeper understanding of the concept of sin, going beyond
the simplistic notion that sin is the breaking of arbitrary rules restricting
man's behavior. Redemption will be re-evaluated, not in terms of Christ
being a penal substitute for mankind somehow allowing God's sense of justice
to be satisfied, but rather in being the ultimate revelation of the Father's
Love and the announcer of a counterintuitive wisdom which redefined everything
including the concept of sin. This fresh look at this central theme of
the Bible will open the door for further study of many other related issues.
As in all things we look to find a grander, more magnificent picture of
God, because even that picture, the one we can just barely imagine, is
not remotely adequate.
Individuals interested
in participating in the presentations and discussions in person are encouraged
